Welcome to the Friezland Brass Band

Website.

Friezland is in Saddleworth, situated four miles east of the town of Oldham. The hamlet of Friezland lies between the village of Grasscroft and nearby town of Mossley. Friezland is situated on the banks of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, and has a church, a primary school and its own Brass Band.

Friezland Band was born into the Brass Band country 26 years ago in the heart of Saddleworth, the home of the Whit Friday band contests and 100 years of Brass Band tradition. It is a community based 4th section band with a very mixed ability with players from 8 to 80. Enjoyment is the ethos at Friezland. The band runs an open door policy and anyone is welcome. The band has a number of experienced players, some young and some who have been adult learners. Everyone involved comes for pleasure and enjoyment under the baton of semi-professional trombone player Paul Kershaw.

The band also runs a training band on Thursday evenings for an hour before the main band reherse, so anyone who fancies learning from scratch will be most welcome.

The bandroom is at the Uppermill Conservative Club, High Street, in the Saddleworth village of Uppermill, and rehearse every Monday and Thursday from 7.30-9.30pm.
